Meet me at the Lakes and Rivers Convention

The Wisconsin Lakes and Rivers Convention is a great place to learn about our state’s waters, network with other lake lovers, and get a dose of springtime. I’ll be at the convention all three days (Wednesday through Friday, March 26-28). On Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. I will be part of an author Meet and Greet. You can visit me and learn about my three books:
- A Lakeside Companion
- Ripple Effects: How We’re Loving Our Lakes to Death
- You Shoulda Been Here Last Week: Stories from an angling life
Fifteen Wisconsin authors will be on hand to discuss and autograph their books. I’ll also have an exhibit table throughout the convention. In addition, I’ll be part of a presentation about the very successful Minnesota Lake Steward program that is helping to protect lake shorelines all over the state. There are plans to replicate that initiative in Wisconsin, starting in Oneida County
The convention’s excellent program includes two keynote speakers. Kelsey Leonard, Ph.D., is a water scientist, legal scholar, policy expert, writer, and citizen of the Shinnecock Nation. She is also an assistant professor at the University of Waterloo, where her research focuses on Indigenous water justice and its climatic, territorial, and governance underpinnings.”
Chris Heeter is a leadership speaker, wilderness guide, poet and dog musher. He observes, “My life’s work could be summed up as being a bridge, helping people connect to their full wild selves, daring them to live from that place of wholeheartedness, and then challenging them to do the brave work of welcoming the wildness of others. My job is to be fully present to the group and make an impact so people leave with ideas and inspiration.”
I hope to see you at the convention!
